Why am I shaving my head with St. Baldrick’s? Because with your donation and my head, together, we can save lives.
What is the reasoning for the head shaving? Because when a child is diagnosed with cancer and has to go through treatment, they lose their hair. By BRAVING THE SHAVE, I am showing support for these children.
The first year I BRAVED THE SHAVE was in 2017. I joined the BWI FIGHERFIGHTERS team because the event was held on April 1st, which I thought was the best day to do an event like this. (At the time I didn't know the tie with St. Patrick's Day.) The second time I BRAVED THE SHAVE was during COVID, and what else could I do with all the free time I had? That year I was on ZOOM, shaving my own head and while I could let the rebel in me come out, I kind of missed a few spots. This year I look forward to actually attending the event in person, (which is a lot of fun!) and letting SportClips do the shaving. My team, the BWI FIREFIGHTERS is celebrating their 10th year hosting the BRAVE THE SHAVE for St. Baldrick's Foundation, which is one of the reasons I wanted to join this year. I find it ironic that in 2017, when I joined the BWI FIREFIGHTERS, I had no idea that I would actually be working at BWI this year.
This year I set a low goal of $450, but I hope to pass that amount. With your help, I am sure that I can.
Your gift will give kids hope by supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants. Your donation is helping to conquer childhood cancer.
Cancer kills more of our kids than any other disease. I don’t want to let these kids down. Can you help?
Thank you!
