Why am I shaving my head with St. Baldrick’s? Because with your donation “on my head,” together, we can save lives. Research is hope for kids with cancer, but donations to find cures have been down since 2020. Your gift will give kids hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charitable funder of childhood cancer research grants.
As was the case last year, I am participating in this event in honor of my childhood friend, Shelby Horne, who was a classmate of mine at Springfield Lutheran High School in the Class of 2013. She is the reason this cause is near and dear to my heart. Unfortunately, Shelby is not the only one to suffer from a childhood cancer diagnosis. Everyone reading this likely has someone in their life who has been impacted by a cancer diagnosis of some kind, and so I ask you to think of those loved ones as you consider your donation today.
I truly can't thank you all enough for your support. So, as an extra incentive to those of you who know me, I am making an additional pledge alongside my promise to shave my head. For every $20 donated through this link by the event date, April 6, I will bike a mile. “Just one mile, Travis?” you ask. Well, if you all meet the amount that we raised last year, that will lock me in to bike 170 miles. That's further than the Gulf Coast in Clearwater to the Atlantic Coast in Melbourne. My hope is to demonstrate that I’m eager to sacrifice for this cause with all of you – I just need your help to make it happen.
