I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research

I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research

The effects of cancer are far reaching. My sister lost her fight with liposarcoma in 2020 after battling the disease for more than a decade. The effects of cancer are not limited to mortality and often significantly affect the quality of life even for survivors. Most of us know someone whose life has been affected by cancer.

Childhood cancer mortality represents an incredible tragedy. Funding and research have led to significant improvements in cure and survival rates for childhood cancers since the 1970's, however much work remains. Currently, 1 in 5 children diagnosed with cancer will not survive. St. Baldrick's is the largest private funder of childhood cancer research, raising money through head shaving events as a symbolic gesture for the children who often lose their hair as a result of their therapy. I encourage you to look through the child profiles on this site http://www.stbaldricks.org/blog/category/kids-with-cancer and consider becoming involved or making a donation to support lifesaving research. Thank you.
