Why am I shaving my head with St. Baldrick’s? Because with your donation “on my head,” together, we can save lives.
In 1996, I was diagnosed with blood cancer for the first time. As an adult being told "you have cancer" is hard to hear and the first time around, the only that I asked my doctor was I received the news, was what do we do now. I endured 5 rounds of chemo and 27 rounds of radiation and was in remission. After 16 yeas in remission the cancer presented in my eyes in 2011 and my brain in 2012. The cancer has affected my vision greatly, but after a total of 20 rounds of chemo, 44 rounds of radiation, 4 spinal taps and a stem cell transplant, I am 10 years in remission. When I first heard about St. Baldricks, and their mission, it was a no brainer for me to shave my head and raise money for pediatric cancer research. I can't imagine what it's like for a kid to be diagnosed with cancer and loose their hair to chemo. When I lost my hair in 1996, it was traumatic, cause it fell out in clumps and I decided to get it buzzed. So, here I am, 14 years later and still willing to brave the bald to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer research. Please help me in this endeavor.
