Hello!
For the past 12 years, I have been a member of Coaches United Against Cancer, raising money for St. Baldrick’s Foundation. In these 12 years, I’m proud to share that we've raised approximately $400,000 to end childhood cancer. This money has been used to fund research grants in pediatric oncology at Yale and CCMC. Our team has been lucky enough to meet some of the doctors who have received these important grants as well as meet some extremely strong children fighting to beat cancer. These experiences have made me so grateful for the healthy children in my life.
One such child is my 7 year old daughter, Emerson. This year is especially important to me because she will be cutting 10 inches of her hair to donate to Wigs for Kids…Emerson has been growing her hair out for the past 3 years to help make a wig for a sick child. Her reasons make me so proud. For those of you who don’t know, my mother had breast cancer and is now in remission. Emerson was with her the day she bought her hair piece in anticipation of having her hair fall out due to chemotherapy. Later she saw a video of someone cutting her hair to donate to make a wig and decided then (without her parents’ influence) that it was something she was going to do too.
As a parent, there are many reasons to be proud of our children. Giving to others is a special act and we are enormously proud of Em’s decision. She has stuck to this for years and it is finally time.
I will be shaving my head for the 12th consecutive year, but this year having Emerson by my side is the most special.
I hope you will consider donating to this remarkable cause. Em and I appreciate your support!!!
