As you may have remembered from the last 5 YRS, some crazy people got together and thought to themselves “hey, to raise awareness and funds to combat childhood cancer, wouldn’t it be funny if I shaved my head or dyed it green?” Well, this year, I am proud to join these crazy people and joining this cause- and will be live streaming my head being shaved to support this effort!
BMC Software has been supporting St. Baldrick’s foundation since 2017 and together we have raised $280,000, all donated to a singular mission: To eradicate all forms of childhood cancers.
Although this may seem like a small personal sacrifice to make (and with age I think I'm not far off from bald anyway!), as someone with 2 VERY active children, The idea that they or any children have to spend any amount of their childhood dealing with such a difficult and drawn out process to recovery is devastating. Anything we can do is worth it. For those who are not familiar with them, St. Baldrick’s has a singular mission: To eradicate all forms of childhood cancers. They are the world’s largest provider of pediatric cancer research grants outside of the US government. Since 1999, St. Baldrick’s, with the help of its global volunteer network has awarded over $286 million and funded over 1,536 grants across 29 countries, where they are needed the most: the hands of the dedicated doctors and scientists who so desperately want to find cures and to the children who deserve them.
My ask of you is simple: join with me in this cause, by making a contribution- anything is appreciated! On April 7th at 12:00 pm EST, BMC will be livestreaming my colleagues and I getting our heads shaved for this great cause, and I will be representing BMC Software's Enterprise Sales team as the captain. My personal goal is $10,000 and I have a little over a month to get there!
Kids with cancer need our support now more than ever. St. Baldrick’s is the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants, and the pandemic has slashed donations, slowing down the progress to find cures.
Cancer kills more of our kids than any other disease. Research can change that, and I don’t want to let these kids down. Can you help? Thank you so much!
