According to the American Childhood Cancer Organization, approximately 1 in every 285 children in the United States will be diagnosed with cancer before turning 20. While it may seem like childhood cancer isn't very common, an estimated 15,780 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. Even worse, less than four percent of the federal budget for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancer.
As someone who has lost his grandfather to the disease, I know how hard going through it can be. Therefore, through St. Baldrick's, I will be fundraising money and volunteering to help collect donations towards childhood cancer research. With your help, childhood cancer patients will receive hair donations and the research they deserve to find better treatments.
Even if you can only donate a little, I much appreciate your support! If I find my $500 goal, I will dye my hair green in support of the foundation!
