Why am I shaving my head with St. Baldrick’s for the fourteenth year?
Because your donation “on my head” will actually save lives.
Kids with cancer need our support now more than ever. St. Baldrick’s is the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants, and the pandemic has slashed donations, slowing down the progress to find cures.
Cancer kills more of our kids than any other disease. Research can change that, and I don’t want to let these kids down. Can you help? Thank you so much!
I would like to share a story that can be found in the book "ONE MONTH TO LIVE"
It is about a man on a business trip who got up early and decided to take a walk on the beach, when he got there he found that a countless number of starfish had washed up on the beach the night before by the high tide. He knew that pretty soon the sun would bake the starfish to their death. He wished he could do something for them but there were thousands of them, he knew he could not save them all. He continued walking down the beach when he came across a young boy picking up the starfish and flinging them like a Frisbee back into the ocean. Once the man realized what the boy was doing, he told the boy "What you're doing is noble, but you can't save all these starfish. There are thousands of them. The sun's getting really hot, and they're all going to die. You might as well go on your way and play. You can't really make a difference here." The boy didn't say anything but just looked at the businessman. Then he reached down and picked up another starfish, flung it into the ocean as far as he could, and said "Well I just made ALL the difference in the world for that one." This boy did not allow the magnitude of the situation to keep him from doing what he could do: save one starfish at a time.
Helen Keller summed it up: "I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do."
Help me make a difference one "starfish" at a time. If you would like to make a donation, click "donation" or donations can be made by mail or phone. Prayers are #1 on the list! I thank you in advance for any and all donations!
