I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Neighborhood Love

3/15/21: HERE'S a link to my video of the shave: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aGhJkOV_i6luXfRTXf5PxUgYLjEry75B/view?usp=sharing

WHY?

I shaved my head with St. Baldrick's to raise money and help conquer kids' cancers like the one my friend Martha has been battling for 6 years.  Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U. S. will not survive. I insist on changing this reality and knowing St. Baldrick's has provided life saving options for Martha's treatment is reason for me to radically change my appearance in order to spread the word.

Martha, has been battling Ewing's Sarcoma since she was 13. This beast has returned 5 times and Martha has been a warrior of courage and positive action. Her unyielding spirit and grit has been my biggest inspiration. In 2019 she biked the Courage Classic (50 miles) during her chemo treatment cheering ME on. She finished before me. Her fight continues and she is MarthaSTRONG in every way possible. Go Martha!

An angel memory: 18 months ago my 2 sons' amazing musician classmate, Zach Cohen, lost his fierce battle to cancer at 20 before his chance to attend Berklee College of Music. Zach inspired everyone he met with his commitment to music, his rhythm of life and incredible leadership. His spirit lives on in the music I hear everyday. Especially Lettuce! We miss you Zach!

Thank you in advance for being a part of the miracle of community. Your donation and positive light makes a difference!  We are doing this!

End note: When my head is shaved I will tackle one horrid aspect of battling cancer with reverence every morning and night as I look in the mirror and watch that hair grow back until it's once again falls down my back. Not only will I be holding brave Martha and Zach in my heart, but also the other courageous souls in my life affected by this beast.

Survivors: my mama Donna A, my sis Lisa J, cousin Graham L, Aunt Barb L, my friends: Holly K, Mary S, Jen G, Jim S, Kim Y, Ben R, Quinton O, Brigitte R, Penny B, Melinda W, Sage H,  Faye A, Marion R.
