I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Hello! It's me, Callaway Connelly. In just a few days I will shave my head for the FIFTH time in support of the St. Baldrick's Foundation. I shaved in 2014, 2015, and 2017, and 2019 and I took 2020 off to grow my hair really long again so hopefully I can raise enough money to meet or exceed my goal of $11,000 for childhood cancer research. In 2019 I was able to raise almost $10,000 AND I donated my hair to a charity that makes wigs for kids going through treatments! I cannot wait to participate again this year!

Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? Or that every 2 minutes another kid is diagnosed with cancer and that in the U.S. 1 in 5 kids will not survive? Since St. Baldrick’s began, the 5-year survival rate has risen from above 79% to almost 85%, but there are still cancers that no child survives. Childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded, but together, you and I can change that. On March 13th I'm going to shave my head at The River Salon Group as part of a UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s and Case Western Reserve University virtual St. Baldrick's Foundation event. My bald head will be a sign that I stand up for the brave kids being treated for cancer, but the real point of all this is to raise money for research that will help save their lives. Please make a donation on my head as we cure childhood cancers together! I'm shaving my head in honor of a family friend, Ava. Ava is twelve years old and beating medulloblastoma.

I have made this my mission, and I hope you'll make it your mission, too: Let’s cure childhood cancers together!

Thank you in advance for your support! I truly appreciate anything you can do.

Love,

Callaway
