I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Rocking Bald For The Cause

I'm shaving my head with St. Baldrick's to raise money and help conquer kids' cancers! Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U. S. will not survive. Mary Amelia was diagnosed with an intracranial germinoma, a malignant type of brain tumor, in 2014 at 9 years old. She went through a craniotomy, chemotherapy and radiation. This February she celebrated 5 years cancer free. Now she just deals with the side effects from the treatment. This past summer Mary Amelia had a periacetabular osteotomy, a hip surgery to create a socket for her left femur. This was to fix a congenital malformation that was exacerbated by one of her post-cancer medications. She has been in physical therapy for seven months and is getting stronger every day. She is able to stay positive through all her treatments and multiple doctors’ visits. She started high school this year and is top of her class. She joined the robotics team and is enjoying the tough competition. She’s always been a strong fighter in all aspects of her life.
