I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Nancy’s Elves

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Nancy’s Elves

I have enrolled in the St. Baldrick’s event in Candor, NY, which will be held on March 29th. That is just around the corner, I am real late with this again. Sorry. This is my eighth year participating in the event and my 2nd year as a Knight of the Bald Table.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation supports childhood cancer research. There are many forms of cancer and we need to research and find cures for all of them. Since I am basically a large child, these types of cancers hit home with me. Children’s cancers also have some unique consequences for survivors. Many of the children who are lucky enough to survive, have health problems later in life as a result of the treatments that cured the cancer. We not only need to find cures for the cancers we do not have a means of curing, but we also need to find better cures for the ones we are curing. We all know that our children are the future. We need to do all that we can to have all of them in the future.

In 2012, I was asked if I would shave my head as a fundraiser to fight cancer. I did and I have had my head and beard shaved at 7 St. Baldrick’s events since. Each year with the support of co-workers, family and friends I have raised a good deal of money for the cause. In 2017 I hit an all-time high for me of over $4,000. It is another year. I have let my hair grow long and also let my beard go. A very good friend of mine says I am scruffy.

So on the March 29th at the Candor Elementary School, Academy St, Candor NY, I will have may head shaved bald in solidarity with children fighting cancer.

I am hoping you will support me by donating to this event in my name. This year I will color my hair again for the $3,000 level, but it would have to happen quickly. I do not know what color. Hopefully Linda Laba will decide. Last year I think she said maybe two colors.

My goal is to raise $2,500.

If I raise $2,000, I will shave off the beard.

If I raise $3,000 by March 18th, I will ask Linda to dye my hair before the event.

If I raise $4,000 by March 20th, I will ask Linda to give me a Mohawk.
