This year, there was a scheduling conflict with our usual venue, and with that uncertainty came some delay and procrastination. That, combined with some really busy work/training days and fatigue, has made it difficult for me to write anything personal for St. Baldrick's this year. As a result, I haven't done a good job with the time I've had and now the event is only 4 days away. I'm sorry for the late notice.
Anyway, this will be Jeff's and my 13th straight year raising money for St. Baldrick's. As always, we will be having our heads shaved in solidarity with children with cancer, who lose their hair by no choice of their own. We would love to have your support in any amount you can comfortably give. Every dollar counts!!
EVERY TWO MINUTES a child is diagnosed with cancer somewhere in the world. Four years ago, this hit way too close to home when it was my then 3 year old nephew.
In the last 20 years, only 4 new drugs have been approved that were specifically designed to treat children with cancer. St. Baldrick's exists to help fund new treatments, raise the survival rate of kids with cancer, and reduce the long-term effects of cancer treatment. Some of those side-effects include loss of hearing and sight, heart disease, secondary cancers, learning disabilities, infertility and more. ABOUT TWO-THIRDS of kids treated for cancer suffer from these long-term effects.
Even if you can't or don't want to donate, we'd love to see you at the event Saturday.
THANKS!!
