I'm shaving my head in honor of my Super Hero son, Jacob Joseph Kowalik to raise money for childhood cancer research. Jacob was diagnosed with MDS and AML Leukemia in July, 2009 at the age of 5. After a bone marrow transplant In October that year, we had hope for healthy new beginnings for our boy. Over the next 4 1/2 years we enjoyed many memorable moments and experiences as a family when Jacob was healthy and had enough energy. Unfortunately there were many challenges and set-backs over those years that Jacob continued to battle which resulted in hundreds of days & nights in the hospital, dozens of medications and treatments, 2 years of dialysis and the need of a wheel chair for his last two years. On April 15, 2014 Jacob, at the age of 10 lost his battle and was called home to heaven. Jacob was an inspiration to many. His fight, caring demeanor and silly sense of humor were examples for many to learn from. His battle, while the most courageous I've ever seen, shouldn't have to be endured by anyone. Especially not a child. I ask for your support in our fight against pediatric cancer. Your donation can help us in this quest to find a cure. Jacob was my Super Hero and I ask anyone who can, to join us in this effort to help carry on his heroic spirit!
Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
Thank you and God Bless!
