I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.

One of my best friends lost her cousin, Nick, to cancer. Nick was only seventeen - just one year older than we were at the time. He went to our school through fourth grade and I had the biggest crush on him. Even after he moved to a different school, I remember being so excited to see him at some of their family gatherings. When I heard of his diagnosis, I couldn't wrap my head around this young, athletic kid having cancer and my immature mind couldn't fully grasp the implications. I assumed he would be okay, but he wasn't. My friend's family still feels the reverberations of Nick's death and always will.
I recently saw on Facebook that the two-year-old son of a girl I went to high school with was diagnosed with brain cancer. I have tearfully followed his treatment journey and prayed for his recovery.
Honestly, I am vainly terrified to shave my head and finally agreeing to make the leap has exposed just how shallow I am. But then, I think of Nick and my best friend. I think of that little, two-year-old boy and I'm just thankful I have something to offer that can make a difference. I hope you'll join me in raising some (a lot!) of money to end childhood cancer.
