I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Rocking Bald For The Cause

Hello friends and family - I am doing it again.  It is time to shave my head. For those of you who are new to my facebook page, here is a little background information to help you understand my “why.”

When I was 16, I had to opportunity to became a counselor with Camp Kemo. I still remember when I returned to camp for my second year as a counselor.  During the counselor meeting before the children arrived for the week, we shared memories of those children who were not returning because they had lost their battle with cancer.  That is tough lesson for a 17 year old.  I carry those memories with me to this day.    I was able to serve Camp Kemo as a counselor and board member for a number of years.

On a professional note, I had the opportunity to work in the Children’s Center for Blood Disorders at Prisma Health.  I was the research nurse for the clinic.  I helped registered children for research studies designed to help us find a cure for childhood cancer.  I remember having a conversation with my peers at the time. We hoped that we would “lose” our jobs because a cure for childhood cancer would be found.  I can’t believe we are still looking for a cure.  But because we are still looking for a cure, I will shave my head to raise money to support research.

My other why are named Paisley, Eli, and Mason and the yet to be named Baby Howard.  I am honored with three (soon to be four) beautiful healthy children in my life (niece and nephews.).

Please join me in my journey.

Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
