I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Brevards Bravest for St. Baldrick's

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Brevards Bravest for St. Baldrick's

I'm back for my 11th year participating as a shavee for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, and I couldn't be more thrilled to have the opportunity to once again support this absolutely amazing organization. My annual participation with St. Baldrick’s has been and always will be to honor those who have won their battle with cancer and honor the memory of those heroes who fought with everything they had ‘till they had no more fight in them. We all know someone - a family member, classmate, neighbor, friend, colleague or acquaintance - who has fought cancer.

For those of you who don't know what St. Baldrick's is, it's a charity organization where you raise money to find cures for childhood cancers through research and then shave your head to stand in solidarity with the kids who often lose their hair during chemotherapy.

This year I am shaving in honor of a special young man - Tripp Lisenby - age 15 - from Florence, South Carolina who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.  He's currently in treatment at St. Jude's in Memphis.  I'm also shaving in memory of another special young man whose journey I followed for many years on Facebook.  Peyton Abernathy passed away a couple of weeks ago from leukemia.  He was 15 years old and fought a hard fight.  He will forever be remembered and missed.

I would like to ask that you consider donating for my 11th year participating. In the past I've been asked about where the money goes, so here is some info regarding that:

$250 supports 5 hours of research in the lab leading to lifesaving discoveries.

$500 funds 20 hours of research to improve patient and survivor quality of life.

$1,000 helps support one child on a clinical trial, which is often their best hope for a cure.

- Since 2005, St. Baldrick’s has funded more than $253 million in research grants to find cures for kids with cancer

One thing I love about shaving is that you get to help someone in need of help. Once you have shaved or donated, it's the most amazing thing you could ever feel....a feeling of pride, compassion and empathy. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. All you have to do is click on the green "DONATE" box below my photo (see above). The fastest way to donate is via credit card. Every dollar is important, and no amount is EVER too small!! Thank you in advance for your continued support, and I promise that it is a decision you will never regret.

Also, please note that for EVERY DOLLAR donated through my page, I WILL match it with a personal donation......the sky's the limit!!!!

As I always say, “It's not what is on your head, but what is in your heart.”
