I'm raising money to further research into pediatric cancer and I need your help! Last year, I shaved my head in memory of my grandson, Jack. This year I decided to use my head in a different way: I did the math. I wish you would go to the St. Baldrick’s website and take a couple of minutes to see their excellent graphics telling why they exist, and how they spend the dollars you give. So, here are the “bottom lines”: Each hour 30 children will be diagnosed ; and 6 will ultimately die of their disease; expanding further, in a day, the diagnosed are 720, mortality, 144; in a week, 5040 families will get the frightening diagnoses and 1008 parents, siblings, grandparents, cousins, uncles, aunts, friends will be bereaved. So since last year’s event, 52,416 children will have succumbed to their disease, and 209, 664 will have survived and are dealing with issues post-treatment. St. Baldrick’s funds research, lobbies for better funding from the government, and works on improving life after treatment. Won’t you help by spreading the facts about chidren’s cancer? If you are able, will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. To accelerate my personal fundraising , I will match, dollar for dollar, the first $2000.00 contributed to my effort.
