I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research with: M3 Class of 2020

Hello friends!

We all know someone who has been affected by pediatric cancer and the devastating impact it can have on a child's life. Did you know that after accidents, cancer is the most common cause of death for children? By the numbers, 1 in every 285 children will be diagnosed with cancer, that's almost 43 new cases every single day! However, only 4% of government research funds are currently dedicated to finding new treatment options.

Thanks to past research efforts, in the past 30 years, survival rates from childhood cancer have improved dramatically. For instance, for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common type of pediatric cancer, the 5 year survival rate has increased from around 57% in the 1960s to currently over 90%. While this is incredible progress, 1 in 10 children not being able to grow up and pursue their dreams is still too many.

Now I need your help! My medical school class is raising money for desperately needed funds to find new cures for this terrible disease. Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.

If you are unable to donate, we would still love to see your support at our St. Baldrick's event at Logboat Brewery on April 6th from 2-7 PM.

Thank you!

-Justine Milligan and the MU Medical School Class of 2020
