I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Full Pints for Half Pints

As many of you know our daughter was born with a brain tumor that required chemo, many surgeries and therapies. Our Meggie was one of the first to shave her head (scars and all) some 10 years ago! She is a survivor and we thank God every day for her; but she has been challenged in life because of the brain tumor, physically and mentally. Thankfully kids are surviving their diagnosis now more than ever but in some circumstances their way of life has been changed forevermore. There are now struggles that survivors and parents have to face that we are ill prepared for and St. Baldrick's is trying to change that. The cancer research is only one, a significant one, but only one aspect of what they do with children, who, gratefully, are now young adult, surviving their disease. Their challenges aren't over when they hear, "you are cancer-free", in some cases their challenges (on a different level) are just beginning. Awareness on all aspects, before during and after, need a voice and that is what St. Baldrick's is doing through research, studies and grants. So this year, in honor of Meg's decision 10 years ago,  I will shave my head again. For our Meggie & for all the ones walking a path no one prepared them for, maybe awareness will bring new hope, new light & new resources to a new generation of survivors!
