Every two minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer.
Every two minutes? Two minutes is how long my typical ice hockey shift is. I get to play about 12 of them a game. So while I'm taking my turns out on the ice to fight to score goals, 12 kids are finding out from their doctors that they are in a fight for their lives against cancer? Over one of my typical 60-minute hockey games, 30 kids will get that bad news? That is so sad and unfair.
So this March 9th, I am taking two minutes out of my Mites hockey tournament and getting my hockey hair shaved in solidarity with these kids. I am doing so to raise money for The St. Baldrick's Foundation, the largest private (non-government) funder of childhood cancer research grants.
Can you take two minutes and join me in supporting these kids too? Every dollar counts and no amount is too big or too small. St. Baldrick's spends all its money directly and only on helping KIDS with cancer survive and thrive.
It's time to give kids' cancer a game misconduct and send it to the showers. Thank you for helping me do this!
