I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Childhood cancer has directly affected my family's lives. My cousin Eddie was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma at two and half years old. He endured grueling treatment of chemo, radiation, and attempted bone marrow transplant. My mother fondly remembers that despite this, he had a smile wider than his face and a tough spirit that knew he was loved unconditionally by his family.
Typically, I already have a "shaved" head about half of the year. My students, family and friends have already seen that, so instead of just shaving my head, I will style my facial hair based on how much money I raise. You can see the goals here.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
