This September I'm going to get a very very very short haircut! I'm thinking a #2 guard.
Three years ago I volunteered at The Ronald McDonald House and two years ago I met 9 year old Hannah at a Girl Scout camp. At these events I met survivors of Childhood Cancer. Hannah survived brain cancer, and at the Ronald McDonald House there were a group of teens fixing up an outdoor garden who had all lived at the House during their treatment. I had met survivors before, but they were already adults and it did not hit home what it meant to be a survivor and still be a kid. The only stories I heard about kids was that they had NOT survived and to send condolence to the families. I'm embarrassed to say it had never really struck home that a kid could survive.
But here I am, older and wiser and ready to shave my hair off to raise awareness and most importantly to raise money to fund research to make the survival stories the stories that everyone knows about. I'm joining up with my whole family, even the girls, to shave our heads in September. The first question I always hear is "do I have to shave my head too?" The answer is "No - you can just donate to me and I will go bald for you!

and then donate!
