I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

** UPDATE ** So it turns out that for liability reasons, a professional barber has to be the one to shave my head.  Though it wasn't explained to me quite like this, Drunks + Clippers make people in the insurance industry nervous and people in the lawsuit game inappropriately excited.  I've been in touch with the leading donor about a new incentive and we'll come up with something good. ** UPDATE **

Giving back isn't something I think about that often. When I see a friend is doing something for charity through an email or on Facebook, I'll chip in and call it a day.

With the way things are today, it just felt like the right time to do something more. I was reminded recently of a charitable effort my fraternity ran in college and how generous people were when doing good was coupled with making me look ridiculous in public. Shaving my head for St. Baldrick's is the natural evolution of that success.

I can promise all donors: I'm going to look bad, very very bad, with a shaved head.

If we reach the goal of $1,000 there will be some sort of replacement incentive. If $500 or more is raised from outside D.C. I'll live stream the event on Facebook. If we exceed $1,000 there will be other incentives:

$1,500 - someone can shave a word or their initials into my head.*

$2,000 - I'll go full bic - razor close shave

$2,000 + - for every $100.00 over $2,000 I'll keep my head shaved for another month

**UPDATE** My wonderful younger sister reminded me she's getting married in June. For every $100 over $2,000 raised I will reshave my head in June after the wedding and keep it shaved for a month for every $100.**UPDATE**

$2,500 + - Highest donor can take new pictures and write new copy for an online dating profile for me.

* The word, initials or whatever shaved into my head will remain unless not appropriate for work, in which case I'll leave it for the event and fix it after.
