I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Burlingame

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Burlingame

Thank you all for supporting me in the past several years. I’m Luca Glickman. I’m 11 years old and have a sister, Alessandra, that is a brain cancer survivor. Our family has gone through a lot and is relieved to have Alessandra still in our family. So when I found out about the St. Baldricks Foundation, I wanted to participate immediately.

The St. Baldricks Foundation is a nonprofit organization that raises money for childhood cancer. It does that by hundreds of people across the U.S having their heads shaved to show empathy to people who have had cancer. Instead of emotionally having an empathy link with them, you can physically feel some of what they feel too. What better way than instead of putting yourself in their shoes, putting your hair in the same state as theirs. People donate to my page and that money then goes to scientists doing research.

This is my sixth year participating in St.Baldricks and have been doing it since I was 6 years old. Over those 6 years I have raised over $63,000! For the last several years, over 40 of my friends from school started shaving with me. Last year, our “Team Burlingame” raised $45,000 and our whole event raised $195,000.

Or if you want to take it even farther and join the Tech Tackles Cancer Challenge - visit https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/sap , sign up for this event or hold your own!I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
