I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Sequoia Hall

I have participated in St. Baldrick’s for 5 years, and this year I am not only participating, but I am organizing and running an event at Cal Poly! The St. Baldrick’s Foundation aims to raise funds to help find cures for childhood cancer. Volunteers (Shavee's) sponsored by family, friends, and employers shave their heads in solidarity with children who typically lose their hair during cancer treatment in order to raise funds.

Every two minutes a kid (infant - young adult) is diagnosed with cancer, and 1 in 5 kids diagnosed will not survive. Much of the treatment currently used is harmful to our bodies and can cause lifelong effects. Researchers from around the world are working to find new treatments that target just the cancer cells and find new ways to find and stop the cancer before it "attacks". For this research to happen, there needs to be funding for it, and this is where St. Baldrick's comes in.

This year our event will take place on Saturday, March 18th around Sequoia Hall (The dorm I am currently an RA in). I have a personal goal of raising $800, and our event currently has a starting goal of $3,500. With your help we can reach, and even exceed these goals to help fight and cure childhood cancer. To donate, you can find my personal St. Baldrick’s Page at the link below or you can call their toll free number.
