This will be my 6th year involved with St. Baldricks. It all started a week before Christmas in 2007, when I heard the devastating news about Noah, a little boy that I coached in soccer, was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. I felt helpless and needed to do something. Shaving my head (yes I know I’m bald) through St. Baldricks to raise money for childhood cancer research seemed like a great idea. Together with Mike Fiscus we quickly created our own event in Mt. Clemens and we shaved 18 heads and raised $14,000. Fast forward to last year and the event has grown to 540 heads and $290,000! This year we intend to shave over 600 heads and raise $300,000. The combined total since that event in Mt. Clemens will most-likely pass the one million dollar mark this year! Think about that… ONE million dollars for childhood cancer research! All because of the need to “do something”. All Because of your help!
However, the army of volunteers and the countless hours we all put in for this incredible fundraiser is nothing compared to what Noah has endured since 2007. He has been through four operations, numerous bone marrow aspirations, 6 high-dose rounds of chemo, 5 low-dose rounds of chemo, radiation, countless blood transfusions, countless CAT scans, MRI's, nuclear tests, blood draws, stem cell collection, daily shots and much, much more! Noah goes to Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York for his treatment. He travels to New York almost monthly for either his scans or 3f8 Monoclonal Antibody Maintenance Therapy. Through all of this he has been unbelievably strong!
Noah is my inspiration and my hero.
And now I ask you to please help by donating money on my head to help us get to that magical number of one million dollars. We did it $5 and $10 at a time, so yes you can make the difference. Do Something! Do it for my hero… Noah.
