When I think of bald, I think of Ed Harris, Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Jess Pryor. I admired each of them over the years, and continue to do so. However, I do this not because they are bald; they just happen to be so.
On St. Patrick's Day, I am going to join the three of them and many others in baldness. I am doing this not because I admire them, but because I admire the many children fighting cancer. There are two kids in particular I am honoring, neither of whom I have ever met. One, a fifth grader here in Ridgewood NJ named Haley, recently lost a leg to cancer. The other is Wil K, a six year old from Westfield NJ who is the son of an old friend and the grandson of my high school football and wrestling coach. He also recently lost a leg to cancer.
I can't begin to imagine what both of these innocent young kids and their families have gone through in this battle, but I can only do something to help their long term cause. Losing my hair is nothing compared to what these kids have lost. However, they have not lost hope, and nor have I.
My simple wish is for you to do what you can to also help these two kids and all the others who are fighting childhood cancer. There are too many, but there is hope.
Please donate today. Give these kids a chance to endure. I am sure you too admire them for their courage. Let's make it pay off for them.
