UPDATE: Due to recent surgery I was unable to make the trip out to Captain Hiram’s and HAVE NOT YET shaved my head for St. Baldrick’s. I plan on doing so as soon as I find a venue to host a virtual shave! Have any ideas? Message me on Twitter @jenvargas or text me at (407) 222-7174!
Cancer has been part of my life since I was a kid. I’ve lost half of my family to a cancer related illness. My first documentary film was about cancer. My mom is going through her second battle with cancer right now. After a (short) lifetime of watching friends and family of all ages battle with this unforgiving, relentless disease, I am DONE.
I am DONE with cancer of all kinds, and I want to do something about it.
I turn 40 on December 16th and wanted to do something special to kick off the first year of my 40s. My friend Casie and I have talked about shaving our heads for St. Baldrick’s for a few years... NOW WE ARE DOING IT.
I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!
Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers?
It's true, and nothing will inspire you and break your heart more than seeing a child go through cancer. Childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for CURES. St. Baldrick's now funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Shaving my head is a big feat and I expect all of you to pony up BIG to see this happen!
Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
