When I first participated in St. Baldrick's in 2010, I was fortunate to have gone through my entire life without having any friends or family affected by cancer. Since then, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, had surgery, went through a round of chemotherapy, and is doing great. And one of the most wonderful people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, Janie Davis, one of my dorm parents at Baylor School, passed away at the age of 51 after a long bout with cancer. So although I am raising money for childhood cancer specifically, this year's event has a little bit more meaning to me personally. And who knows for how many more years I'll have enough hair to participate. I raised $750 in 2010, so let's top that this year!
I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
