Childhood cancer is the leading cause of disease-related death among children in the United States. Childhood cancers are biologically different from adult cancers and often require distinct treatments. Despite this, only about 4% of the federal government’s cancer research budget in the U.S. is allocated specifically to childhood cancers.
In addition to funding, general awareness is crucial. This is the main reason I am shaving my head for the second time. I am also doing this in memory of my Papa, who passed away from cancer. His battle inspired me to take action and work toward a future where no family has to face the pain of losing a loved one to this disease. Increased awareness can lead to earlier detection and diagnosis. Knowing the symptoms and risks can improve outcomes for children through timely intervention.
St. Baldrick's Foundation is the largest private funder of pediatric cancer research grants in the United States, helping to fill the fundraising gap left by the federal government. Every contribution, no matter the size, can make a meaningful impact in the fight against childhood cancer. Please consider donating to my page—thank you for your support!
