I work in Children's Surgery Center at UC Davis Children's Hospital. Emotionally, the hardest part of my job is working with the kids who have been diagnosed with cancer. Did you know that every 3 minutes, another child gets the diagnosis.
Last month a friend, a former coworker's 3 month old son got diagnosed with leukemia. The month before that yet another of our kids in treatment succumbed to cancer. Nearly every day, kids come through our surgery center for chemo, spinal taps, cancer surgery, etc.
I look at the faces of the parents and see their devastation, the faces of the kids and see their fear. Yet, they step up, put on a brave face and march forward to fight the unfathomable. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.
I decided I can do more than just work with these brave fighters and their families, so I'm shaving my head to raise funds for childhood cancer research.
We all can do more. This is for Henry, for Kathy, Kristina, Reese, Jose, Dominic, ... there are too many to list. Please join me in supporting these kids and donate. Let's help these kids kick cancer's butt!
Thank you.
Did you know kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
