At the end of 2015 I found out that my best friend's son (Aiden Kramer) had cancer and my life changed forever. That feeling of wanting to help make him better but to not be able to do anything other than be supportive was the worst feeling in the world. In January 2016 I was folding origami dollar hearts for Aiden's birthday because it made me feel like I was doing something when in reality I wasn't. When I told her to Ashley (Aiden's mom) she told me about the St. Baldrick's event that was being held in Aiden's honor on March 17th 2016. I immediately signed up as a volunteer and as I began to look into what the organization was about I was amazed. I knew then tgat this was my way to truly make a difference for kids cancer. I feel honored to be able to participate in this and to help raise awareness and funding to save their lives. It is heartbreaking to see children stuck in a hospital room when they should be outside playing and enjoying their childhood. While being supportive and doing what I could for my best friend and her family, two other families and their incredible son's also inspired me and will continue to motivate me. I'm mostly got to know Will (age 19) and Silas (age 2) via social media as well as talking to Ashley daily. I wish I had the opportunity to get to know them in person but they both passed and are with God now. The spirit and fight both Will and Silas had touched me in ways that I cannot explain. Because of these three incredible boys I have found my purpose in life is not to do everything I can to make a difference in childhood cancer until a cure or better treatment is found.

This year this year I have decided to take my volunteer status a step further and be a shavee. After watching these kids endure what they have while maintaining positive spirits my hair means nothing to me. So please join me to honor Will, Silas and Aiden as well as many other children like them and donate. Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Change and a cure cannot happen without funding
