So... this isn't a throwback against vanity, but an attempt to support and recognize the bravery of kids, teens and adults I know who have lived to tell the tale of surviving cancer, as well as those who had fought a courageous battle. Family members, friends, and clients who have been diagnosed with cancer have touched my life, and they have got some moxie!!! As a member of a CrossFit box, it's become more and more apparent to me just how amazing our bodies are, and how much we take for granted the things that we can do. But in all honesty, being able to deadlift almost two times my bodyweight isn't really as courageous or as amazing as the strength it takes for a child, teen, or adult with cancer to press through treatments that render tasks like breathing, sitting, eating, or daily living skills arduous, difficult, and sometimes torturous.
We've probably all known someone who has been diagnosed with cancer and are aware of the emotional journey that accompanies that diagnosis. My hope is that as a community, we can support those who are living moment to moment with cancer. If you'd like to make a donation in honor of someone you know, that would be awesome. More than anything, I hope that we can recognize and support those who are wrestling with this, those who have, as well as those who have survived.
