Many of you may well know that my sister Annie Hyberger is a nurse in the oncology unit of Children's Hospital of Cincinnati. Aside from being my hero for her astounding work ethic and strength of character, she has connected me to this world of childhood cancer in a very real way.
In starting my "drive" to get these donations, I started to feel mixed emotions. Though the thought of shaving my head grows increasingly more scary as the date approaches, I do not want to be seen as some kind of hero. It's only hair. And it ain't about me. It's about you and your ability to step up to the plate and help in contributing to this very worthy cause. Cancer has touched all of our lives, and if you can give (even just a little bit), YOU would be a hero in my eyes.
Of course I'm trying to practice non-attachment with my long, beautiful, healthy, lustrous (did I mention beautiful?) hair...I mean, come on, I'm a yoga instructor. The point of this, however, is to help fight childhood cancer. And I certainly can't do it alone. Join me:
