Look around you….do you know anyone that hasn’t been touched by cancer? To add to the devastation, a child with cancer. As hard as it is to be a child these days with trying to fit in, make friends, possibly to go to school regularly and succeed, add to it dealing with cancer and the treatments that go along with it. If you have never experienced it for yourself, children suffer just as adults but somehow it seems more painful to see. My wife and I lost our 9 year old daughter to a brain stem glioma. To watch her go through her treatments and still be a kid was heart breaking and yet inspirational at the same time. She taught me so many things about the fight and will to live. In the end our little girl only survived 16 months from her diagnosis. We watched as cancer ravaged her body and robbed her of her childhood by making her ill. We watched as cancer stole her future - her prom, her graduations, her marriage and children. We will always have that place in our minds and hearts for her. There will always be 3 children in our hearts because you can’t ever forget. I am participating in St. Baldrick’s fund raising event by shaving my head. St. Baldrick’s is a wonderful organization that donates proceeds from such events to pediatric cancer programs and research to help other children be able to go the prom, their graduation, get married and have their own children someday.
Any donation no matter the amount is appreciated for this great cause. At the very least, please share my story with those you know (There's always someone willing to help).
I sincerely appreciate your support,
