My one and only resolution this New Year is to participate in more charities, particularly those targeted toward children suffering with cancer. For those of you out there that don’t know me personally, I am a cancer survivor of 15 years this September. I was blessed, and now that I’m wearing my adult shoes, I figured it was time for me to give back a little. A lot of people out there who are cancer survivors or have them in their families believe in miracles for obvious reasons. There are two kinds of miracles. There are the obvious cosmic kind that are unfathomable, and sometimes inexplicable. But there is another kind of miracle that few recognize or even know about. That is the human miracle that each of us is capable of. The strength of a child who is fighting for his or her life is as remarkable as anything handed down from God, or the Universe if you’re more comfortable with that phrasing. Not all of us make it through, but even those lost are remembered for their spark which always burns brighter before leaving this world.
