On March 31, I'll be getting my head shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research. Kids' cancers are different from adult cancers — and childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for research.
I'm doing this in memory of Bryan Tressler, a very special Riverhead boy who was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer when he was just 6 years old. Bryan was an inspiration to all who knew him — family, friends, classmates and even total strangers. He was outspoken and articulate, speaking at Relay for Life rallies and corresponding with President George W. Bush. His goal, he said, was "a cancer-free world for future generations." Bryan fought valiantly and lived a full life, even while coping with the disease and treatments. He passed away on May 8, 2007 at age 14.
I want to help raise money to research for cures for childhood cancers. Every kid deserves to live a long, healthy life.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
