I’m going to do something pretty extreme and I’m asking for your support. I’m having my head shaved at a St. Baldrick’s Foundation event on March17, 2011, at Mountain Lakes’ Wildwood Elementary School’s Auditorium. With my baldhead, I’ll stand in solidarity with kids being treated for cancer. But, that’s not the main reason I’m shaving my head. Most importantly, I’m doing this to raise money for life-saving research.
As you may know, my father was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma over 23 years ago. On March 17, 1989, he had a bone marrow transplant. He has been in remission for the past 22 years and considers March 17th to be his “other birthday”. The fact that I will be having my head shaved on this particular date makes it even that more special to my family and me. Cancer has taken the lives of my grandmother, grandfather, and has caused many friends and family members too much grief, pain, and sadness. I am not only shaving my head for the children I am honoring through St. Baldrick’s (AJ, Annie, Chase, and Christopher), I am doing this to hopefully raise enough money to make a major difference in cancer research in order to stop this horrible disease from causing any more heartache.
In 2010 alone, St. Baldrick’s gave over $14 million towards childhood cancer research. That’s more in grants for childhood cancer research than any other organization (except the U.S. government). And, all because nearly 38,000 people shaved their heads!
Please make a donation on my head and come watch others and me on March 17, while we “Shave the way to conquer kids’ cancer!” This is a fun way to do something very important. To see my donor names, fund raising progress, before/after photos, and to read about the children I am honoring, please visit my page on the St. Baldrick’s website. Please help me reach my goal of $5,000. You can give directly online (search for my name at www.StBaldricks.org) or by phone (888-899-BALD). Credit cards are the most efficient way to give, or you can write a check payable to “St. Baldrick’s Foundation.”
You can count on this donation being used responsibly. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.
On behalf of some very special kids and their families, thank you for your support!
Love~
