Each year my goal is to be a part of the solution to help cure cancer. The key to curing cancer in adults is to cure cancer in our children. If we can do the research that allows us to cure cancer at a young age, we will have found the keys to prevent cancer as life goes on. So you ask...Why do I do this? My personal fight with cancer started at age two. That is when my Mother was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. She died when I was four. Along the way, my grandmother had colon cancer. My sister had Breast Cancer. She survived. Then she had Colon cancer. She beat that. Then she was diagnosed with Liver and Pancreatic Cancer. She passed away in 2011.
I have a great picture of my wife with two of her very close friends, Monica & Aimee. I would show you but I don’t have a digital version of it. All three were around 8 months pregnant with the three kids born within six weeks. First, Monica had a healthy girl, Shannon. Then came our Robbie. A beautiful, healthy boy. Then came Aimee's son, Jackson. At first Jackson, seemed healthy but within months he was diagnosed with Leukemia. Jackson fought valiantly. He spent almost all his life in the hospital. Just after his second birthday, his tiny little body gave out. Only God knows why it was Jackson who was chosen and not Robbie. It still sits with me. We won the lottery with healthy kids but to watch the personal pain that Aimee and Kevin went through hit so close to home. How could we be so grateful when others so close, suffered so much. So often we forget our blessings until we sit down and really reflect on them. So I'm asking you to make a donation. I'll take $5, $10, whatever. It is all going to help kids with cancer...and that's good enough for me!
