This is my fourth year participating in St Baldrick's, and first since my junior year of high school. That year, the event had more meaning than ever to me. After the passing of my mother due to cancer, I became and still remain fervently dedicated to help find a cure.
Of course though, St Baldrick's fights for children who are battling cancer. This being said, I can't even imagine the despondency and sadness of parents of kids with cancer. I suffered a lot in losing my mother, but I know that if she were to have lost me, she would have been even more upset than I am. A parent should never have to see their kid die, and this is what makes children's cancer so alarmingly horrifying.
This year we are all shaving in honor of Blaise Davis, who recently passed away after his bout with this insidious disease. His ability to find joy in the face of terminal illness is something I continue to strive for in my day to day life.
Even if just a few cents, please donate. A cure is out there somewhere, but it cannot be discovered without your help. Thank you.
