I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with:
Oklahoma Atheists
Cancer sucks. Especially when we're talking about kids getting cancer. I am shaving my head to raise awareness and money for the important and underfunded research into new treatments for childhood cancer.
A child is diagnosed with cancer every 3 minutes. I imagined what it would be like if it were my child or one of the children that I love almost as my own. What wouldn't I give to increase the likelihood that a child I love would beat cancer and live a long healthy life? Giving up a few inches of hair (and a few months worth of vanity) seemed a more than acceptable trade for helping raise awareness and fund research that could save the lives of so many children.
60% of the funding for the development of treatments for adult cancers comes from drug companies, but these companies fund almost 0% of research on drugs to treat childhood cancer. That's where private donors like you come in. Please make a donation – every dollar makes a difference!
