I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: BERMUDA BAR

My motivation for shaving my head to generate sponsorship for children's cancer research is simple. From the chest x-ray which expats moving to Bermuda must have for visa entry requirements and due to the eagle-eyed doctor on duty that day, I was shortly after diagnosed with a surprise chest-wall tumour. After surgery at London's Royal Brompton to remove it, I became a patient of the Royal Marsden for adjunctive radiation treatment. Thanks to what was just incredible 'luck' in having the x-ray when I did and also the care and phenomenal expertise of surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, nurses and my GP (and the love of those around me + my mother's cooking) I came through that experience with just a neat long scar across my back to remind me. I ended-up at my Bermuda law firm some 9 months later than I had planned. That was 3 years ago. On the inside, the experience continues, I think, to have a profound effect on me on a number of levels - one of which is the gratitude I still feel for not having had to endure that nightmare as a child. So ... I think one close shave deserves another - please do sponsor me with whatever you can spare and do come and watch the lot come off on 19 March 2010 at the BAA! Thank you!
