Thank you for your interest in my St. Baldrick's Day webpage. It's hard to believe, but this will be the seventh year that I participate in fundraising for children's cancer research through this amazing organization. This year I am fundraising in honor of John Robert T. of New Orleans, LA, a 3 year old boy with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Although I do not know John Robert personally, his story and the stories of so many other kids always inspire me to want to help out in any way I can. You can read more about John Robert by clicking the link below. I am shaving my head in solidarity with John Robert and all children who have lost their hair in the fight against this disease, and more importantly to raise the critical research funding needed to ensure that no child has to endure that fight again.
This year I am also raising money in honor of all of the members of my family who are fighting or have fought cancer. This disease has impacted my family many times and many ways, as I'm sure it has affected yours as well. Together we can take a step toward a world where that fight is no longer necessary.
As in past years, I am fundraising as part of the event hosted at Finn McCool's Irish Pub in Mid-City New Orleans. This year I won't be able to make it to the actual head shaving event on March 19th, but you should still go! In just a few years this small sidewalk barber party has turned into a major street festival with music, food and drink, celebrity appearances, a silent auction and raffle, and of course a fun, friendly crowd of people raising money for a great cause.
Whether you go to Finn's to have your head shaved, or buy a raffle ticket, or donate online, thank you very much for your support. Together we will work toward a day without childhood cancer.
