I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: MAY-Team

Ah, it’s this time of year again. St. Baldrick’s is back and in full force! Hopefully many of you know that every year around this time, I participate in St. Baldrick’s. For those of you who know that I do this every year, I’m glad to have you back and (hopefully) supporting this great cause another year!

First, let’s begin with a little history and information. St. Baldrick’s is an annual event which takes place across the country. Since the year 2000, there have been more than 224,000 shavees and over 5,300 events! To date, St. Baldrick’s has raised more than $131 million! All of that money went to fight childhood cancer and the 160,000 children who are diagnosed with cancer every year. Not a single penny of it went to fund the events held or rent out space to use for the event (that was all provided by the very generous businesses and volunteers wanting to support a great cause).

This will be my 6th year participating in St. Baldrick’s! This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. In addition, this charity also serves to raise awareness of childhood cancer. Not the mention, with baseball season coming, I could use a haircut.

Below is a link to my St. Baldrick’s page where you can donate to this great cause that works to end childhood cancer. Remember, no donation is too small! Every dollar donated is a step closer to ending childhood cancer! But if you can’t donate, no problem! There are many other ways to get involved. You can volunteer at the actual event to shave the participants. You can share this link (or this organization) with your friends and on social networking sites. To get your post notice, use any of these hashtags: #StBaldricks #conquerkidscancer.

I look forward to seeing how you all get involved and having another great year!
