I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Mount Rose

Overwhelming how much support I am getting! Thank you Thank you... bumped to a new goal of $1,400. Let's keep it going!

Thank you to everyone for the support! I am at a loss for words... I've increased my goal to $1,200. Lets keep the momentum going!

"No one has ever become poor by giving." - Anne Frank. Someone long ago quoted this to me, and for a long time ; I thought it just had a monetary meaning. 4 years ago, I started a life journey. I set a goal to grow out my hair long enough to donate and hopefully bring someone a chance at feeling better during their fight with cancer. I have never had long hair in my life. I didn't know how I'd feel when I started this journey, but Somewhere in there; I grew a true attachment to it. It became a personality that I enjoy, and got attention. It opened my eyes to just a fraction of the fears that people fighting cancer have to face. Losing their hair can feel like their identity is being stripped, add to depression, and make social activities more difficult. By the strong arm of my niece, Lola, I have joined the Mount Rose Elementary team as a St. Baldrick's Participant to shave my head at their fund raising event on March 7th. My plan is to cut and donate my 30 inches of hair, and completely shave my head. I would truly appreciate it if you could assist me in my efforts and donate anything that you can. Thank you - Zak

Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?

A challenge among friends 25 years ago has become the largest volunteer movement to Conquer Kids’ Cancer. This year, I’m joining thousands of others to shave my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!

Did you know, 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive? For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.

Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.

Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
