I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: MWU Faculty/Staff

Like many others, cancer has affected my family. My sister is a breast cancer survivor and is currently continuing a courageous battle against liposarcoma. Cancer however has unfortunately taken others in our family before their time. Childhood cancer in particular is an incredible tragedy. Funding and research have led to significant improvements in cure and survival rates for childhood cancers since the 1970’s, however much work remains. Currently, 1 in 5 children diagnosed with cancer will not survive. St. Baldrick’s is the largest private funder of childhood cancer research, raising money through head shaving events as a symbolic gesture for the children who often lose their hair as a result of their therapy. I encourage you to look through the child profiles on this site https://www.stbaldricks.org/blog/category/kids-with-cancer and consider becoming involved or making a donation to support lifesaving research. Thank you.
