What could possibly be more important than saving the life of a child?
At our event, some folks will shave their heads – and others like me will keep the hair we have and put our hearts into supporting childhood cancer research.
During the pandemic, donations have been down sharply, which is a big deal since the St. Baldrick’s Foundation is the largest non-government supporter of childhood cancer research grants.
I want to make sure kids know we care. I want more research to save lives. Please support me with a donation. Thank you!

In this year's event, I continue to honor Martha R. and Klaus H, students I have had the gift of getting to work with. I am also honoring my great-grandmother, who was a breast-cancer survivor, and my childhood best friend, Andrea, who is also a cancer survivor and an amazing nurse. I am also answering the call to raise money to support one of my former ultimate frisbee teammates whose son, who is 4 years old, was just diagnosed with cancer.
12 years ago, I shaved my head for the first time as one of the captains of CU Women's Ultimate Frisbee team with another teammate. Inspired by my mejor amiga, another captain for the team, who shaved her head all on her own the previous year, we doubled our team's involvement that 2nd year. The following year, another 4 women from our team shaved their heads at CU Boulder's St. Baldrick's Day event.
There is strength in numbers and the more we inspire each other to take risks and live fully, the more we can be inspired to live our most authentic lives. ¡Gracias por donar a la causa! Though I am not shaving my head THIS YEAR, my own donation will be (in part) the money donated by my students-- thank you!
I'm "Jefa" Sam Johnson - I've shaved all or part of my head twice now with St. Baldrick's to raise money and help conquer kids' cancers! I'll do it again in the future, but for this year-- I'll be making a video of the selfie video of the 2020 virtual St Baldrick's Day event of my husband shaving both sides of my head on the front porch of our house at the beginning of the COVID19 pandemic.
Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U. S. will not survive. I refuse to accept this reality, so I’ve decided to fundraise for lifesaving research to find cures and better treatments for kids. Now I need your support! Your donation can fund research to help kids survive and thrive. Join me today and let's #DFYchildhoodCancers together.
