Why I Shave: Honoring My Mom, 11 Years Strong
Hey everyone, I’m Spencer Podolski.
For the 11th year in a row, I’m shaving my head to support St. Baldrick’s Foundation—because kids fighting cancer don’t have a choice to lose their hair, but I do. And I do it to honor the strongest person I know—my mom.
My Mom: My Inspiration, My Why
From the time I was young, my mom has shown me what it means to be strong, selfless, and resilient. She has always led by example, facing challenges head-on with courage and grace.
And today, that strength is more evident than ever—because my mom is still kicking cancer’s butt.
Her fight reminds me why this mission matters. No one—especially a child—should have to battle cancer. Every year, I shave my head not only to honor her strength but to stand in solidarity with the kids and families who are fighting their own battles.
Why I Keep Going
Eleven years ago, I took my first step into this journey with St. Baldrick’s, not knowing how deeply it would shape me. Over the years, I’ve met incredible kids, families, and survivors who remind me why this fight is so important.
Some of these children win their battles. Some don’t. But all of them deserve more time, more moments, and more chances to just be kids. That’s why I keep showing up, year after year—because every shave, every dollar raised, and every breakthrough matters.
This Year’s Goal: Let’s Make an Impact
Honoring my mom, who continues to inspire me every day.
Standing in solidarity with kids who need us the most.
