I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: TeamRiverBexar

On November 23, 2014 my world was turned upside down, just 8 weeks after giving birth to my daughter, we learned her big brother had cancer. At 2.5 years old he was diagnosed with Stage IV High Risk Neuroblastoma. After following protocol with no real results  we chose to make a change and travel 5 hours away for another treatment options. When that didn’t seem to work either, we went to New York, things only got worse for River from there. He moved on from this world on June 15, 2017.

We made so many sacrifices in our lives, our daughter and our marriage, but we did what we felt was the right decision to save River. None of what we did worked, although in the end, Cancer didn’t end his life. Treatment to save him did. Federal funding for pediatric cancers is less than 4% yet children lose more years of their lives to cancer.

In April I’m heading to the Capital to tell River’s story in hopes of getting the STAR Act passed and funded. Nothing will bring him back, or repair the hole he left in my heart, in my soul, but I can use my anger and grief to make a difference. His life mattered, and his journey isn’t over just because he no longer walks this earth.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
